This was very different from the steamy romances that Hoover is known for. This was a really good suspense/thriller story. The ending left me wondering what was true and what were lies. Really good read for anyone who likes tension and a twist.

I appreciated that the TV series didn't follow the book because I appreciated the character development. Aunt Lydia became a sympathetic villain.

fun book to listen to

The entire book all I wanted to do was make Buck my dog and spoil him like crazy. The beatings by Man and dog fights were a lot to read, but I'm glad he found John, even for a little while.

This book is important because it helps young people to recognise both the signs of sexual assault/PTSD and the manners in which cisgender men, may be toxic people. Adults must teach how not to victim-blame the survior of this type of trauma, especially. Helped me feel less alone when I was going through a similar mental health crisis. Unity is crucial for healing.

I really enjoyed seeing the how the different animals coincide with current political figures and how we can be like sheep following the pigs.
