I liked how her writing improved as I read the book. My heart absolutely broke for her when she discusses she's HIV positive. Also, her yearning for love and being completely confused by what it is.

got me to like biographical books and i began to think about the idea that how everyone has a story to tell no matter what. usually we hide things/topics/relationships that hold the most significance or key value for us

I appreciated that the TV series didn't follow the book because I appreciated the character development. Aunt Lydia became a sympathetic villain.

This was very interesting. I was able to empathize with the authors family history and struggle with his identify.

This book is important because it helps young people to recognise both the signs of sexual assault/PTSD and the manners in which cisgender men, may be toxic people. Adults must teach how not to victim-blame the survior of this type of trauma, especially. Helped me feel less alone when I was going through a similar mental health crisis. Unity is crucial for healing.
